PAMJ-One Health Scope


PAMJ-One Health (PAMJ-OH) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing the science, policy, and practice of the One Health approach in Africa and globally. Recognizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, the journal provides a platform for the dissemination of high-quality research, evidence, innovations, and experiences that promote collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary solutions to complex health challenges.

The journal welcomes contributions addressing the prevention, detection, and response to health threats at the human-animal-environment interface, including but not limited to:

  1. Zoonotic diseases
  2. Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
  3. Antimicrobial resistance
  4. Food safety
  5. Environmental health
  6. Climate-sensitive diseases
  7. Ecosystem health
  8. Biodiversity
  9. Veterinary public health
  10. Pandemic preparedness and response
PAMJ-OH also encourages submissions on health systems strengthening, workforce development, surveillance, risk assessment, policy and governance, community engagement, and the implementation and evaluation of One Health programs and interventions.

PAMJ-OH publishes original research articles, implementation research, systematic reviews, policy analyses, outbreak investigations, surveillance reports, case studies, perspectives, commentaries, and other scholarly work that contribute to strengthening One Health capacities and advancing evidence-based decision-making. Particular emphasis is placed on research and experiences from low- and middle-income countries, especially Africa, and on studies with direct relevance to public health practice, policy development, and sustainable development.
